Name: Aerifor Mahariel
Age: 37yrs
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Occupation: Grey Warden
Personality:
Aerifor at first meeting would come off as someone you must tread lightly around, his harsh and never-ending scowl being enough to set most people on edge. While this is not always necessarily true, it certainly can be. Aerifor is a man who is extremely aware of himself and his position, as well as his strengths and weaknesses. He revels in a fight, even if it is one-sided, and often will attempt to provoke people who seem hostile into attacking them, really DARING them to come after him, and because of this, he tends to look for any flaw in a person that would allow him to lead them into a battle with him, very few of which result in the offending party walking away, now or ever. To this end, he attempts to, and is often successful in, wheedling out lies from people, or finding things to pick at. He is especially harsh against humans, because of his race and holding a deep-seated mistrust of the 'quick children'.
Despite all of this, Aerifor is not a total monster, and will usually be as polite and agreeable as one can be with a scowl on their face to most strangers, provided they don't tip off any of his flags immediately. When he is not being bloodthirsty, Aerifor is generally an adrenaline-junkie who indulges a bit too much if given the chance. He enjoys his mead and women(or men, or anything in-between, or any combination of the aforementioned, really), and gets into bar brawls if he is not watched closely.
Even with his otherwise harsh personality, Aerifor remains rather moderate, politically. He doesn't really care too much for all of it to begin with, being of Dalish origins, and tries to remain objective when he knows that his voice and opinion matters. He can be extremely persuasive when he needs to be, often wielding his words the way he wields his swords- dually, and with great precision, holding nothing back. When he does have an opinion, it is usually for compromise, or whatever will benefit those least fortunate. No need to make the rich richer, right? He is just as confident in his decisions as he is in his sword arm, and spares no time trying to hide that confidence- part of why he is as well-liked as he can be, despite his less-than-perfect track record. Even the hardest of decisions are made with little hesitation, and often before people even get a chance to present the 'choices' to him.
He is very strongly against the use of blood magic, and only barely tolerates even Morrigan's hi-jinx in the woods, not necessarily believing that all of her magic was sans-demons, and he punishes those who do not heed the warnings about magic quite severely, even taking Connor's life once he was possessed, both to stop the demon from doing any more damage and to teach his mother the folly of her ways. A child must be sent to the Circle, as it's the law of the land, of course! He is usually inflexible in these opinions, with one very large exception- if it is a direct benefit to him. For all his self-righteousness, he will allow people to live if they serve his purposes, no matter their previous crimes, and he finds nothing hypocritical about it, though he may admit it's a little bit bad if pressed on the issue, but he will still stand firm in his decision.
Strengths: Aerifor is a warrior, first and foremost, and his Dalish origins only lend to the speed and strength that is natural to a dual-wielder. He is a strong and confident fighter, and a strong and confident personality. He can be very persuasive when he wants to be, and knows how to use his strength and renown to bully people. He is strong of will, and hard to influence by magical or other means.
Weaknesses: At the heart of it, Aerifor has no real direction or purpose, and after losing his clan, he decides not to return to them. There would be nothing for him there, as far as he is concerned and so he's wandering, and easily influenced. He's likely to pick up any odd job or any random cause and can easily be tricked by someone who is good at keeping a straight face. He will not usually ask questions, being used to needing to have discretion, and his silence can usually be bought .
He is prideful and tends to run on the 'angry' side of things, and a strategist could certainly use his temper or his ego to their advantage.
In battle, he has no way of dealing with someone outside of his dashing range, though he closes gaps quickly. He also does not use a shield and wears heavy armor, which makes his speed slower than a rogue's and his defense lesser than someone who did deign to carry a shield. Also he is short idk how that factors in, but I'm sure you could put something up high and he'd have a hard time reaching it.
